About
The Voyageurs Wolf Project is a University of Minnesota research project studying wolves in and around Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota. Started to address one of the biggest knowledge gaps in wolf ecology - what wolves do during the summer - the project provides comprehensive understanding of summer wolf ecology in the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem.
Led by researcher Tom Gable, the project uses GPS-collared wolves to study predation behavior and reproductive ecology. The project is primarily funded by private donors, the University of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund. Their research has revealed fascinating insights into wolf behavior, including wolves that specialize in fishing and berry-eating during summer months.
